Mission and Core Values

Sleep study roomThe Washington Township Center for Sleep Disorders is the most comprehensive and highly regarded sleep center in the East Bay. It utilizes state-of-the-art technology to diagnose and treat a wide variety of conditions related to sleep, such as sleep apnea, snoring, sleepiness, insomnia, restless legs syndrome, and narcolepsy. Our Center is also the only sleep center affiliated with Washington Hospital Healthcare System, and is one of only two sleep centers in the East Bay accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the authoritative accrediting organization for sleep centers. The Center's Medical Director, Dr. Nitun Verma completed his fellowship in adult and pediatric sleep medicine at Stanford University.

As a comprehensive sleep clinic, we treat both adult and pediatric patients, answering their questions, and reassuring them. With treatment options integrated from other medical specialties, the clinic is a 'one stop' center to treat sleep disorders by all effective methods. This is what is required to reduce the morbidity and mortality of drowsy driving, hypertension, strokes, heart attacks, depression, and other conditions caused and/or worsened by sleep disorders.

"Dr. Nitun Verma was a pleasure for my wife. Dr. Verma was a professional in all aspects of care and manner. As Dr. Verma explained to my wife the test he was performing she had no problem understanding why he was doing the test. He always brought it down to her level of understanding, not a medical one. He kept her in high spirits while he investigated the cause of her ailment. He is very knowledgeable and highly regarded at Washington Township." - G. P., Fremont

"I found Dr. Verma to be very easy to talk about my sleep problems. He spent time explaining what to expect at the sleep clinic as well as the results after. "He evaluated my husband and determined he needed a bi level machine. The difference in my husband is amazing. He has gone from 91 apnea's a night to 2.3. He now stays awake when I talk to him and to play with our kids. Dr. Verma was very personable and really cared about us and listened to both of us when we came in to see him about my husband. Great doctor." - C. B., Fremont
